Zen Meditation: Dancing in the Rain

“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.” ~ Buddha

“Mind your thoughts, as they become your words. Mind your words, as they become your actions. Mind your actions, as they become you.” ~ Buddha

“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” ~ Yoda

“Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.” ~ Buddha

“Zen is not an art, it’s not a religion. It’s a realization.” ~ Gene Clark

“Relax. Nothing is under control.” ~ Adi Da Samraj

“Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass…
It’s about learning how to dance in the rain.” ~ Vivian Greene

Meditation Assignment:

  1. Grab pillow.
  2. Sit or lay.
  3. Relax.
  4. Regulate breathing.
  5. Focus:  The above quotes are so simple, yet so difficult to achieve on some days.  Especially on the most chaotic and difficult days.  Pick one that you would like most to accomplish / live by… envision or replay an episode in which you see yourself acting in that way.  Hit rewind and play it over and over again; or try different scenarios.  Then…
  6. Guided:  I like meditating because I can do anything – things I cannot do in real life.  Like: dance like Gene Kelly.  Let your troubles go and sing and dance in the rain…

In Singin’ in the Rain, Cosmo says to Don, who is disappointed with life:  “Well, at least your taking it laying down.”  And then, of course, they break into song and dance.  Go to the movies!

Thanks Michael. It has been a rough week(s). I needed a pick-me-up. Glad you appreciated it too.
